Midway supplies a wide range of press repair parts manufactured to equal or exceed press manufacturer quality, but at a lower price.
Anvil Rolls
Midway’s fully-hardened, tool steel anvil rolls are precision ground with a high polish finish. Many press manufacturers use "case hardened" anvils, but Midway uses only high chrome content tool steel. Heat-treated in our own furnaces, Midway produces high Rockwell anvils that deliver years of service. Our anvils may be returned for reconditioning at a nominal charge. Midway’s prices are generally at or below those of inferior case-hardened anvils.
All anvil rolls are provided with hardened gears when requested, or we will use your existing gear if it is in acceptable condition. After purchasing anvils from Midway, your old anvils may be sent to us for "stepping" to raise or lower the web when required. These occasional use anvils can often get the converter out of a jam if a tool stops cutting properly during a press run, or if the wrong liner was ordered.
Journal Blocks (Bearing Blocks)
Worn journal blocks create cutting problems. While often overlooked, bearing blocks that are loose in the press frames or have poor quality bronze bushings reduce die life and cut quality. Midway bearing blocks utilize high quality needle bearings for longer, more accurate life.
We will recondition existing bearing blocks and/or convert bronze bushing type bearing blocks to use needle bearings. Inferior bronze bushings are at their best only when new. Rapid deterioration (becoming out-of-round or bore-oversized) makes the switch to needle bearings a must.
Nip (Pull) Rolls
Midway offers replacement or reconditioning service for nip rolls. Covered in high quality urethane rubber and ground to precise specifications, Midway’s nip rolls are a great value. New or reconditioned nip rolls eliminate web slippage and irregular web tension, improving print to print and print to die cut registration.
Knurled Rolls
The knurled roll underneath the nip roll will wear over time, causing web slippage and uneven web pacing. New knurled rolls will increase the effectiveness of your nip roll allowing you to hold required press accuracy.
Assist Rolls or Double Truck Assembly
Old style presses use assist rolls that are not hardened, and will flex under pressure. Flexure causes inadequate or uneven pressure to be applied to tooling. Replacing soft assist rolls with hardened rolls will increase both effectiveness and life.
Using a Double Truck Assembly is a vast improvement over older assist rolls. With leading and trailing bearings that rest over the centerline of the cutting tool at each bearer, the assembly maintains proper alignment of the tool to the anvil. Side-to-side adjustable bearings allow this unit to be used with less-than-full width tooling without requiring press modification. The system can be used in conjunction with digital or hydraulic pressure gauges.
Support Rolls (Drive Rolls)
Made to press manufacturer’s specifications, Midway’s fully-hardened tool steel support rolls offer greater longevity at price at or below manufacturer’s case-hardened rolls. Precision ground to a TIR of less than .00025", these rolls run smoothly against your anvil to reduce anvil wear.
Hardened Replacement Gears
Midway offers hardened replacement gears up to AGMA 10 quality. All gears, whether hard or soft, are precision bored for accurate fit and concentricity. Midway provides replacement gears of any design and style. Our replacement gears cost less than OE gears from your manufacturer.
